9 Hole Golf Course | Par 3 Course | Short Game Golf

Princes Park Golf Course is a 9-hole, par 3 course open to members and non-members, suited to golfers of all standards.

For a beginner, it offers a great introduction to learning the game as it is not a big, intimidating course.

Equally, for the elite player the 150 yard approach shots are critical in the scoring zone.

Hire clubs are free for children, with a small fee for adults, with balls and tees available to buy from reception.

The 9-hole walk around the mature trees shield each hole and offer great privacy for you and your playing partners and can only be described as fun!

We are very proud of the course here in Dartford. From its original design in the 1980's, it was redesigned in 2006. Each hole is named and has some interesting history behind it.

Hole One - Valley - 87 yards
The view from the first tee extends across the beautiful Darenth Valley towards the North Downs. We advise that you keep your ball this side of the river!

Paul's tip: First tee nerves? This shot will test you as the bunker on the left often catches a slightly off-line shot. A high shot is required here.
Hole Two - Roman Brooch - 121 yards
A rare Roman Brooch, dating back to AD50,was discovered in the vacinity of the second green. Please don't dig up the fairway looking for any more!

Paul's tip: The elevated tee is very inviting but presents its own problems in judging the distance of this hole. Make a choice: do you want to bounce the ball onto the green or land it all the way?

Hole Three - Bignores - 89 yards
Bignores is named after the large house which was located at Princes Park.

Paul's tip: Be careful of landing short of the green as the ball will naturally kick towards the next tee.

Hole Four - Mantle - 136 yards
If you over-hit the ball on the fourth, it will end up in the Mantle Works foundary- we have no responsibility for melted golf balls!

Paul's tip: The second hardest hole on the course. The deep bunker on the right will prove a difficult escape. Ensure you play enough club on this tee shot.

Hole Five - Gunpowder-119 yards
A gunpowder works used to exist behind tee number five. Have no fear though, the only crack these days is club on ball and you won't go up in smoke!

Paul's tip: An inviting hole back toward the club house. Beware not to play long of the green as this will prove a very fast return shot.

Hole Six - Lime Kiln - 131 yards
An old lime kiln exists behind the sixth. Please don't go looking for lost balls!

Paul's tip: Once your tee shot disappears over the crest of the fairway, the ball will run in the direction of the green.

Hole Seven - Blind Bronze - 138 yards
When excavating the seventh green, two 4000 year old burn pits from the Bronze Age were discovered. The roasting these days usually comes from the greenkeeper!

Paul's tip: The longest and most demanding hole. In addition this tee shot is normally playing into the wind. Two cleverly-positioned bunkers guard the entrance to the green. A good, firm hit is needed here.

Hole Eight - Charman - 80 yards
This hole has been dedicated to the memory of Mr Charman, one of the longest serving greenkeepers on this site.

Paul's tip: The shortest hole with a good scoring opportunity. Play the ball high and land it soft.
Hole Nine - Pigou - 94 yards
Captain Pigou was the owner of Bignores - a large house which used to stand on the site of the lake.

Paul's tip: Trees? What trees? Focus your mind on the gap between the two conifers to find the green.
